THE DIVE

The parting of clear water--
as the diver's head
creases against
the point
of entry--
Slicing
through wetness--
as a knife
splits clean--
to a lemon's core.

The body propels forward
water shimmering along
the sides of flesh--
Arms move upward
reaching--
for
white
air.
